Lady Laughs Comedy Festival Features Intersectionality and Diversity Galore

MADISON, WI USA ( October 3, 2017 ) — Submissions are finally all in for the 2nd Annual Lady Laughs Comedy Festival (LLCF). With over 90 acts submitted, the festival is more diverse and packed with laughs than ever.
LLCF is a beacon of diversity which excited its creator and executive producer, Dina Nina Martinez. “We have submissions from all over the country and Canada and women from every walk of life.” Martinez, who is a Transgender comedian, loves to see the intersectionality within the comedy community and says that the festival was set up to create a safe space for all women and empower them in a predominately male industry.
2017 will heavily feature people of color, queer and 5 trans women, college age women to senior citizens, Polyamorous, Bisexual, and the list goes on. It is truly a depiction of what comedy should be displaying; all voices, shapes, sizes, backgrounds and colors.
This year’s festival will include some very special events. Friday will have a Q&A with Mary Kennedy from Showtime’s Shameless and Saturday will have an industry panel with Eve Paras (Comedy Club on State) and Melissa Hahn (Modelface Comedy) at the Comedy Club on State. Additionally, we’ll have the Aft-HER Party at Brocach on Saturday and Brunch with The Bettys on Sunday with a brunch buffet sponsored by Beyond Catering by Slide Food Cart and featuring 100 Mile Sauce Bloody Mary’s followed by The Laughing Betty Awards which will recognize audience and LLCF favorites.
